So far I have purchased a license for Jomres and installed it successfully on a test server.

I would like to know how to set up the script and/or Joomla to show the properties on the front page with a simple menu on the side just like it's done with the demos here:
www.jomres-extras.com/jomres-templates

Do I have to use Joomla at all for this or will a standalone installation suffice?

In the event that I purchase one of the templates from jomres-extras.com, what will I need to do to have the same kind of website?

Sorry, I don`t really understand what you`re trying to achieve. Do you want to have a site like the Jomres Extras demo sites?

yes, I am trying to to set up Jomres and/or Joomla so that the properties are on the front page and I have a simple menu on the side without all the Joomla clutter.

The script manuals only explain how to put a Bookings link, but I'd like to do it like in the demos.

In this case, you have to make the Jomres menu item the default menu item in Joomla main menu.

In joomla module manager where you have the Home and the Jomres menu items, change the default homepage to Jomres menu item.

what I need for use a functionally page?

You have to install the property_creation_plugin from jomres plugin manager.
